War and Worship

Matthew 2:13–23 confronts the sobering reality that the birth of Jesus provoked not only worship but violent opposition, most clearly seen in King Herod’s fearful grasp for power. The passage reminds us that Jesus entered a world marked by grief, violence, and darkness. Yet even Herod’s cruelty could not thwart God’s saving plan—God protects His Son, fulfills His promises, and advances redemption despite human and satanic opposition. The  gospel of Matthew invites us to examine whether we respond to Jesus with worship or resistance, holding out hope in the truth that this threatened child is the true King who brings life and salvation to a broken world.
