Twelve Ordinary Men Who Transformed the World

Dr. Conrad Mbewe opens Matthew 10:1–4 to invite us to consider the charge of closely following Jesus.

Matthew names the twelve apostles, the sent ones, whom Jesus calls to join him in the harvest, giving them authority to carry on the work of his kingdom. They were as ordinary as they come: fishermen, a despised tax collector, a rebellious zealot, a doubter, two we know only by name, and Judas, who walked beside Jesus and still betrayed him. What set them apart is not education or status but the call of Christ the King. God uses jars of clay so that the glory is his, and Jesus is a wonderful Savior who saves sinners and uses ordinary men and women.
