Fear and Faith
This sermon from Jonah 1:8–16 contrasts Jonah’s empty claim to “fear the Lord” with the sailors’ genuine fear that leads them to trust and worship God. While Jonah runs from God and refuses to show mercy, God uses even his rebellion to bring the sailors to faith. Ultimately, the story points us to Jesus, the greater Jonah, who took our place under God’s judgment so that we might receive mercy, peace, and new life in Him.
