An Upside-Down Kingdom

In the beatitudes Jesus provides a surprising portrait of life in God’s kingdom—an upside-down kingdom where true blessing is not found in strength, success, or self-sufficiency, but in spiritual poverty, godly sorrow over sin, and meek dependence on the Lord. Jesus teaches that those who recognize their need, mourn their sin, and humbly trust God are truly blessed, because they belong to the kingdom now and await its fullness in the future. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are satisfied not by their own efforts, but by receiving the righteousness of Christ, a reality celebrated and lived out by faith.
