In Matthew 6:5-9 Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray — secretly and simply as sons and daughters. The world treats prayer either as a religious performance to be seen by others or as babbling repetition meant to bend the gods' attention. But God’s people come to a Father who already knows what they need and listens for Jesus' sake, so prayer becomes a place not to gain attention but to enjoy communion with our Father.
