Jesus tells his disciples that he is the "True Vine" and that all who believe in him are his branches. Building on the analogy of God’s people as a vine bearing fruit Jesus declares the necessity for all Christians to bear fruit as they grow in Christ-like-ness. How does this fruitfulness happen? Only as disciples are united to Christ, filled with his life, abiding in Him. What is the evidence of this life? Jesus provides four attributes: a transformed prayer life, a greater concern for God’s glory, love which flows into obedience, and joy.
